Sines - Arrifana - Lagos

Sines - Arrifana - Lagos 10.5.2015
85Nm to go

We start 10.55 from Sines Harbor to the end of the world, to Cabo de St. Vicente.
We had a delicious dinner last night with an englishman and a lady from New Zealand. They were cruising North to the Spanish islands and perhaps back to the Med.

We sail now with the genoa and the engine is running, the wind is nearly anything.
Now the weather system has changed! No more cold nights. Perfect for us old gentlemen.
We manage to anchor in the Arrifana bay with a little of daylight left. Marvelous bay the smell of the pinja trees is great and the views are stunning.
The old skipper doubts a little when anchoring against the Atlantic ocean, though the wind is now from N-Nw and we get shelter from the cliffs.
We cook the fish we caught yesterday. Fish, potatoes and carrots delishious! After a perfect meal we fall asleep.
The captain sleeps like a dog always when anchoring on reed.  Now I´m glad that I have all the electronic devices aboard. Three anchor watches gives me the trust to anchor here. Allthough I don't like it.
In the morning I fall into the sleep and wake up when the wind arises. The anchor can not hold us in wind force 5-6 beaufort from SE. So up with the anchor and up with the sails.

How come we are tacking all the way to the Cabo de St. Vicente. It was supposed to be downwind sailing.
Cabo de St. Vicente is even more stunning from the sea "The Lands End". The wind dies just a few miles before the peninsula and starts again after we have rounded it.

Headwind also on Algarves south coast. Tacking all the way to Lagos with light winds.
We both, especially Pertti recognizes the villages and the Cabos along the coast line.

We sail in to the harbor of Lagos and of course walk to a good fish restaurant to get a portion of squids. Perfect. I even insist pertti to take a walk into the old town of Lagos. Nice!
