Dover - Cherbourg - Brest
The weather became better bit by bit after leaving Dover in thr East end of the English channel. We got sidewind an also some downwind appeared to us when the weather improved. Some miscalculation with the tides and we had the stream agains us for a long time.

Cherbourg - Brest
This time perfect calculation with the tides. we got good speed at the Point de la Hague and downwind gave us speed all the way to inlet channel of Brest. Beautiful downwind sailing all day. Crew was lying and sunbathing while we were doing 3 - 7 knots in variable tides. The great fisherman tried to cacth some meal but unfortunately only lost a bate. THE FISH WAS ENORMOUS! Even our young captain student aclimatised on the movements of the boat and relaxed her body aftter the storms. She got her first naps on broad daylight! The wind eased when the night fall, we had to start the engine. Extremely warm evening before the dog wath. Now the moisture was something like almost rain. Even the running backstays dropped water on fhe crew. Morgning the entire surroundings was covered with fog. Luckily we had bougt a detail map on the passage between Quesant and the mainland. It was a huge passage with only a few boys and shoals. The fog eased when approaching the entrance channel of Brest. The captains ETA was somewhat inaccurate. But he never said on which day the arrival was planned.
